The original issue from 1966 came on a red and silver Studio 1 label with a WIRL matrix number. The cover photo has Bob Marley, with arms outstretched, between Bunny Wailer on the left and Peter Tosh on the right. The sleeve carries a ‘Manufactured & Distributed by West Indies Records Ltd 13 Bell Road, Kingston 11, Jamaican W.I.' credit. Now very rare - and very expensive (if you can find a copy).

The first reissue, dating from the early 1970s, features the same tracks as the original but with added overdubs throughout. The cover photo now features a more relaxed pose from the trio of Bunny Wailer, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, and the rear of the sleeve carries 'Manufactured & Distributed by West Indies Records Ltd' and 'Uniprint' credits.

One of several silk-screen designs (two more below), dating from the mid 1970s. These are erroneously thought to be 'original' issues and can therefore command high prices at auction. The pressing is the same as the 1970 reissue (complete with overdubs). The rear of the sleeve on this one credits 'Jamaica Recording & Publishing Studio' and 'Stephensons' lithographers.

An alternative silkscreen sleeve, this time simply printed in black on white. Same label and pressing as above, but the rear of the sleeve says ' Manufactured by Jamaica Recording Mfg., Co., Ltd.'

On this, and on subsequent reissues, When The Well Runs Dry has been replaced by Ska Jerk (although both the label and the sleeve still list the original title). Otherwise, it features the same tracks as WAILING WAILERS² (including overdubs).

Early 1980s reissue with the same mix as WAILING WAILERS³. Can be found on a rossette label (as illustrated above) or on a red and yellow US label with the Fulton Street, Brooklyn, address.

A Studio One CD loosely based on the later reissues of THE WAILING WAILERS was released in 1994 with a number of extra tracks (however, most of the additions are Lee Perry productions recorded at the Black Ark studio).
