SKA AUTHENTIC2
The Skatalites (1967)
Studio One SOL 9006
matrix: SOL+9006
Lee Oswald; Bridge View; President Kennedy; Further East; Ska In Vienna Woods; You're So Delightful // Four Corners; Scrap Iron; Feeling Good; Royal Flush; Ball Of Fire; Christine Keeler
UK issue with stamped matrix.
Wholly instrumental set from the Skatalites, originally issued in the UK in 1967 on a red and white Studio One hanging microphone label and re-issued and re-pressed inumerable times since then. The version of Ska In Vienna Woods on this issue features a vocal introduction and scat percussion. (The original UK sleeve can be recognised by the orange background to the 'AUTHENTIC' box.) (Click sleeve to enlarge.)
Lee Oswald; Bridge View; President Kennedy; Further East; Ska In Vienna Woods; You're So Delightful // Four Corners;Scrap Iron; Royal Flush; Feeling Good; Ball Of Fire; Christine Keiler
Jamaican re-issues.
Same track titles as the UK issue, but in a different order - Feeling Good and Royal Flush change places on side B, and there is a different version of Ska In Vienna Wood (without the vocal introduction). The spelling of Christine Keiler on the label matches the spelling on the sleeve. (Re-press sleeves have a red background to the 'AUTHENTIC' box.)
I have seen references to other Jamaican pressings with matrix numbers CN 2886 and CN 9006, but no further details are known.
