The Gaylads, consisting of Harris 'Bibby' (or BB) Seaton, Maurice Roberts and Winston Stewart, were one of the most versatile of the Jamaican vocal harmony trios. They made their name recording Calypso, Mento and Ska titles in the early 1960s on labels such as C&N and Port O Jam. ROCK STEADY, issued on the blue Coxsone label in the UK in 1967, is not only their finest album, but also one of the best rock steady albums ever released.

It was originally released in Jamaica as SOUL BEAT, with only 10 tracks (omitting Piculiar Man and She Cryed).
