Pain In My Heart (Perils); You Lied (Larry & Alvin); Calling (Willie Williams); Why Can't We Love (Cables); Reggae Rock (Sound Dimensions); Jerico Rock (Sound Dimensions) // Alabama (Sound Dimensions); Hello Carol (Gladiators); Come On Home (Webber Sisters); In The Mood (Sound Dimensions); Tenderly (Sound Dimensions); You Found Me (Larry & Alvin)
Laminated sleeve (some with with 'Music House, 12 Neasden Lane, London' address on rear, and some with 13 Brentford , Kingston 5, Jamaica). Left: Original UK issue with stamped matrix on distinctive red & white 'hanging microphone' label. Centre & Right: Early Jamaican presses with same stamped matrix.
This is a very interesting album, as it would seem that the majority of the tracks were never released as 7" singles or compiled on any other album or CD. The Perils, for instance, do not appear to have recorded any further titles, either for Studio 1 or for any other label (neither Pain In My Heart nor the group are listed in Roots Knotty Roots or Charlie Morgan's Coxson's Music). Similarly, the tracks by Larry & Alvin, Willie Williams and the Cables cannot be found in either discography.
The exceptions are Hello Carol (originally released on 7" in Jamiaca in 1968 on the Supreme label; in the UK in 1969 on Studio 1; and subsequently included on the PRESENTING THE GLADIATORS album from 1979), and Come On Home (which was only released in Jamiaca on a blank label, but appeared in the UK as Come On as the B-side to Delroy Wilson's Easy Snapping on Studio 1 in 1969).
Apart from Jerico Rock (which was released as a Studio 1 single in Jamaica in 1968 as Jericho Skank and credited to Jackie Mittoo), none of the other instrumentals on the album can be found elsewhere. Attributed to Sound Dimensions, they all feature strong contributions by Ernest Ranglin and/or Jackie Mittoo.
