JAMAICA ALL STARS VOL.2
Various Artists (1974)

Studio One SOL 9018
matrix: 9079 1A

Sammy (Brentford All Stars); Peeping Tom (Brentford All Stars); Home Version (Dennis Alcapone & Ken Boothe); Feel Good All Over (King Sportie)); Zion Higher (Burning Spears); Black Treasure (uncredited) // Life (Hortense Ellis); Always Something (Winston Francis); Secretly (Hortense Ellis); Happy Go Lucky Girl (John Holt); Old Time Something (Burning Spears); Riddle I This (Underground Vegetables)

Originally released in Jamaica (in split stereo) on either the silver and black label or on the red and white label, and later repressed on the red/green/cream label. Note that sides 1 and 2 are reversed on the sleeve and on the red/green/cream label. Track A6 is actually Musical Happiness by Soul Vendors rather the uncredited Black Treasure. ((Click sleeve to enlarge.))

The catalogue number and the Willesden, London address on the rear of the sleeve suggests that this album might have been intended for release as part of the UK series of Studio One LPs on the iconic hanging microphone label, but it was only issued in Jamaica (see also JAMAICA ALL STARS VOL.1, which shares the same catalogue number). Many of the tracks were originally released on 7" singles or LPs in Jamaica and the UK between 1968 and 1974 (the alternative takes included here are in split stereo), but Sammy and Peeping Tom are unique to this album.
