This has always been one of my favourite Various Artists’ compilations, and now it has been reissued in digital clarity and with three additional tracks. There were two different mixes of the original vinyl album, with Fat Fish replaced by Love And Unity (Viceroys) on the red & yellow label reissue (now omitted from the CD). The sound quality on this later release was particularly disappointing, but here it has been restored in all its pristine glory. No sleeve notes, of course, and even the artists credits are missing, but the album is blessed with a strong and varied choice of material dating mainly from the late 1960s, with some well known and some rather less familiar titles in the selection. I can even forgive the inclusion of the execrable Oh Bla Di, but only because it’s the Heptones. Buy with confidence. | ||
